These pieces of jewelry were handmade in a ceremonial manner by a Huichol artist in the village of La Laguna, Jalisco, Mexico. The glass-beaded bracelets represent abundance, featuring the sacred deer and maize, two primary symbols of food resource for the Huichol community.
We offer this jewelry as part of the “Water for Huicholes!” campaign, an effort in partnership with the community of La Laguna. It is a response to the request of Mara’kame, Don Jose Ramirez, for assistance improving water access for his people. All art and jewelry sold to support this campaign was purchased directly from the artist, with proceeds going to support educational opportunities in sustainable design for the Huichol villages of the Sierra Madre Occidental. CURRENTLY FOR AUCTION: Three Orange Deer & Maize Bracelet | Orange Deer & Maize Bracelet | White Deer & Maize Bracelet We are thankful for your support and interest, and appreciate the opportunity to facilitate this blessed exchange of energies. |
